驚きの37歳差、超“歳の差婚”でゴールイン
米ジョージア州のシェリル・マクレガー（63歳）は、7人の子どもと17人の孫を持つ女性だ。そんな彼女が、コーラン・マケイン（26歳）と初めて出会ったのは、2012年のことだったという。まだ15歳だったコーランはファーストフード店で働いており、そこでふたりは初めて顔を合わせたという。
このときはまだ恋愛関係にはならなかったが、2020年にコンビニエンスストアのレジ係として働いていたシェリルをコーランが見かけ、ふたりは8年ぶりに再会。そして互いに恋に落ち、2021年にコーランがシェリルにプロポーズ。37歳という歳の差をものともいわず、ゴールインしたのだ。
妻なのに祖母と間違えられながらも妊娠
交際を始めてから、TikTokで自分たちの動画を投稿してきたシェリル＆コーランのカップル。40歳近い年齢差から、TikTokで話題になり、多くの人の注目を集めてきた。
そしてこのカップルが最近さらに注目を集めた。妊娠を発表のだ。代理母がふたりの子どもを出産する予定だという。TikTokでは、赤ちゃんの超音波画像を紹介し、嬉しそうに新しい命についてシェアしている。
「ビューティフルカップル！」「なんてラブリーなふたりなの」といったコメントもある一方、あまりの歳の差から、ネット上では攻撃的なコメントが寄せられることも少なくないようだ。中には、シェリルをコーランの母親か祖母と思ってコメントしているものもある。
シェリルは以前「私はコーランほど長く生きられないかもしれないけれど、私は彼を信じている。私がいなくても、彼ならできる」と話していた。一方、コーランは「彼女は、私の祖母より若い。まわりからひどいコメントを受けるが、私たちは動じない」とコメントしている。
